HITESH SINGLE PHASE SELF PRIMING MINI MONOBLOCK PUMPS

HITESH INDUSTRIES regenerative side channel type Self priming Mini Monlblock Pumps are designed for easy installation, simple maintenance and trouble free service, The product is versatile, lightweight, reliable and will give you good service for a long time when properly installed and operated with adequate maintenance and care. Given below are some practical information and useful tips, on the installation, operation and maintenance.

INSTALLATION ¬

1. GENERAL

1.1 Though the pumps are self priming at static suction lift upto 8m (26 feet) at mean sea level,
please note that the vertical distance between the centre line of suction flange of the pump
and water level should 'NOT' be more than 4.5m (15 feet) for satisfactory discharge. This
will also help even if there is further drawdown of the water level.

1.2 Remove cutting oil from pump, rinse with water before starting the pumpset. Install the
pumpset near the source of water on a rigid platform with proper foundation bolts, providing
adequate pipe supports. Excess pipe lengths should be avoided.

2.  BENDS: Ensure minimum number of bends-and airtight joints.

3.  NON-RETURN VALVE: Fit a non-return valve on delivery side. This is a must for high head
     pumpsets.

4. STRAINER: Fit a strainer on suction pipe to prevent entry of foreign material. This will
prevent ingress of dirt & dust into the pump. Use of footvalve is not essential.

5. CLEARNCE: Maintain sufficient clearance of minimum 5 cm (2") between the suction pipe
bottom and the bottom and sides of the tank. In case pumpset installed on open well then
clearance should be minimum 0.5m (1.5') between pipe end, bottom of well and surrounding.

PIPING ¬

1. Use pipe sizes as specified on the name plate.

2. Always use Anerobic pipe sealent or Teflon Tape for pipe joints; Avoid use of gunny pieces or     jute ropes.

3. Remove suction & delivery flanges by unscrewing the bolts of the pump. Fit the flanges to the
respective pipes & assemble to the pump.

OPERATION ¬

1. WIRING: Connect the motor with correct size of cable.

2. IMPORTANT: Fill the casing of the pump with water at the time of first starting of the
    pumpset.

3. FREE ASSEMBLY: Ensure to rotate the shaft with the help of appropriate screwdriver prior to     starting, to check the, freeness of the pumpset, a provision for checking the freeness is given     by a slot on the shaft at Fan cover side.

4. DIRECTION OF ROTATION: Check for the direction of rotation of the motor by switching on     the supply. It should be clockwise looking from the motor side as indicated by an arrow on     the delivery chamber.

5. IMPORTANT: NEVER RUN THE PUMPSET WITH GATE VALVE CLOSED, IF PROVIDED AT
DELIVERY SIDE. DO NOT RUN THE PUMPSET DRY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO MECHANICAL
    SEAL.

Now your pumpset is ready to deliver water to your requirement.

¡ MIAINTENANCE ¡

1. DAILY RUNNING: It is advisable to run the pumpset for a few minutes daily to maintain
    freeness.

2. STARTING AFTER A LONG DURATION: Ensure the freeness of the pumpset as given in pt. 3
of "Operation" if the pumpset is idle for a few days.

3. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the casing is filled adequately with water before starting, if the
pumpset is idle for a very long duration.

4.1 LEAKAGE THROUGH MECHANICAL SEAL: Replace the mechanical seal if there is
excessive leakage through ,it. The following precautions to be taken while replacing a
     mechanical seal failure.

4.1.1 Keep all the seal parts clean during handling. Any dirt or foreign particles on the seal surface could cause a premature seal failure.

4.1.2 Vibration of pumpset may cause seal failure. Hence try to prevent vibrations in pumpset.

4.1.3 Thorough cleaning of the housing is necessary before fixing counter face (stationary ring - ceramic or metal ring in rubber L ring) to eliminate all the dirt in that area.

4.1.4 The outer diameter of the stationary L rubber ring and housing should be slightly moistened with 10% of liquid soap and 90% of clean water. Using a brush moisten the shaft and interior of seal with soap solution. Do not immerse seal in the solvent.

4.1.5 Always use fitting tube for fixing the counterface. Ensure that the counterface is perpendicular to the shaft. Do not hammer the fitting sleeve.

4.1.6 Before fitting the sealing ring (rotating part), clean the shaft with a solvent (petrol or thinner). Fitting tube is necessary for placing the sealing ring in its working position. Push the seal smoothly to contact ring face. Do not hammer the fitting sleeve while fitting the sealing ring

4.1.7 During installation see that no dirt or foreign particles are housed inside the seal chamber.

4.1.8 Never run the pumpset dry.

4.1.9 While replacing an old mechanical seal, do not use old sealing ring with new I counterface or old counterface with new (sealing ring. Always replace the seal entirely.

5. BEARING: Grease the bearings as and when required. Replace the old grease once in two
years. Clean the bearings with mineral turpentine. Always use good quality lithium base
grease such as MP-2 of Indian oil.

6. AIRTIGHT JOINTS: Check for airtightness of the joints in the suction pipe and casings.

7. STRAINER: Ensure that the clogging does not take place in strainer. Clean the strainer
    periodicaly.

8. SERVICING: In case the pump is required to be dismantled ensure that the components are
refitted in correct sequence and position. A suitable mark by a paint line and sequenced
numbering on the components, prior to dismantling will help in correct relocation of them. Any
error in location will substantially deteriorate the performance.
